About Cinc
Many of my paintings were created in my tiny, haunted carriage house in downtown Charleston. In 2015 I moved back to Chapel Hill, NC, so now I'm painting in a little studio off Dairyland road near maple view ice cream. Using a variety of media (acrylics, watercolors, glitter and glue), I create whimsical renderings of my surroundings that are full of intricate details and bright colors. I aim to capture the essence of a locale by incorporating what makes the location unique: captivating buildings, wildlife and other local icons. These visions are typically realized on large scale canvases. Since living in Charleston, San Francisco, Norway, Wyoming, Florida, Seattle, and Colorado, I am continuously inspired by evocative churches, colorful houses, and vibrant wildlife, especially fish and magnificent porpoises. Inspiration often arrives on walks around a town or city and the desire to convey such a spirited place leads me to the canvas. When living in San Francisco I rented a wonderful spot in a ceramics studio. For the last 9 years I have been building all kinds of unique projects around Chapel Hill. Feel free to check out those projects at handymanhayes.com
